Best Online Dating App Profile Photos for Guys: Picture Tips

Bumble Photo Tips, Hinge Profile Photo Tips

Avoid duplicate outfits, backgrounds, expressions. Reduce inconsistent looks (grooming patterns, hair colors, hairstyles, weights and appearances). Use a mix of close up photos, full body photos. Mix up the facial expressions and poses.

Avoid selfies, but if you must limit to one. Avoid group shot photos in your main photo (limit rest to 1-2 max in your profile). Dress to attract the type of person you want to attract not what you feel comfortable in. Avoid dark circles, harsh lights, looking away often, photos taken below the chin and photos from weird high angles.

Should You Smile, Laugh In Your Dating Profile Photos

Seems obvious but no. Many guys have facial expressions that seem very intense, appear dark, look creepy, lack enthusiasm or are just unflattering. Smile or laugh too hard and you might reveal a double chin, see the back of your tonsils or highlight your nose hairs.

Not smiling well enough might suggest constipation, food coma, anger, sadness or despair. Finding the right balance is key. Surrounding yourself around close friends, family members, pets or activities, passions, hobbies can perk you up naturally.

Should You Look at the Camera In Your Pictures Or Look Away In Your Dating Photos

Too often, men don’t like their smiles, or they think their smiles make them look less masculine (this could not be further from the truth). One way men have tried to look more interesting or masculine is looking away from the camera.

Side (also known as profile) photos, photos from behind, photos covering the face dark shadows, hoodies and hats all hide the face. Women want to see how you look.

Looking away can suggest insecurity, trying to hide a facial feature, lack of confidence or general disinterest. All of these can be viewed as an automatic left swipe by some girls. Own your look, look in the direction of the camera but don’t look too intense (mean look, big eyes etc.).

The occasional photo looking away naturally can be effective but a series of photos looking away can suggest something more going on.

You might have seen studies or posts from dating apps like OkCupid or a few photographers stating how looking away in your dating photos is recommended. This is absolutely false.

Looking away from the camera does not make you more attractive. If it works for someone you know, it’s because they don’t know how to smile, or they are more attractive to begin with.

People want to see your personality, candidness, vulnerability, confidence etc. Looking away doesn’t allow people to see this.

Avoid Trying Too Hard, Intense In Your Dating Photos

Many guys try too hard to illustrate strength, accomplishments or wealth. Don’t do this. Photos like this suggest insecurity, one-dimensional lifestyles and inability to be bold, unique and comfortable in your own skin. Spend 5 minutes on any dating app and you will find photos posing next to vehicles, photos with guns, photos at the gym, photos flexing, photos with luxury accessories, photos from expensive restaurants, lounges, bars, hotels.

One photo may not hurt you significantly but a theme of similar photos will make it obvious you are trying to cover up some emotional intelligence, personality or social skills. Also, one should note that the saying “you are only attractive as your worst photo” should resonate with the user if there seems to be a lack of likes and matches.

Dating Photo Background Locations and Environments

You don’t need to have epic photos all over the world to seem interesting but ignoring the backgrounds can be a self-sabotaging effort. If all your photos are taken at your apartment (hallway, bathroom, bedroom, living room etc.) that might suggest a lack of social life, lack of friends or lack of desire to leave your home.

Everyone loves the occasional lazy morning, occasional Netflix binge but a theme of home photos can paint an unflattering picture. Adding conversation starters and talking points your bio and photos will facilitate responses from women.

Avoid Selfies In Your Dating App Photos

Spend 5 minutes and you will find no shortage of bed selfies, gym selfies, apartment hallway selfies, bathroom selfies, car selfies etc. I understand that it’s hard to get good photos of yourself but littering your profile with selfies is not only cliche but suggests lack of social circles or close relationships or fear of asking photos to take photos.

There is nothing wrong with this but dating apps that train users to make quick decisions based on limited data points will make it tough for you to succeed. Seek out events with photographers, ask a stranger to take a photo, use a tripod with timer, get friends, family members or a professional photographer to help out.

According to Hinge, selfies receive 40% fewer likes than non-selfies and bathroom selfies receive 90% fewer likes.

Misrepresentation In Dating Photos (Catfishing, Hatfishing, Heightfishing, Dogfishing)

Many guys on dating apps are looking to get that edge when it comes to their profiles. Sole inserts, misleading photo angles, old photos (more than 3 years old or those that don’t reflect how you look today), hat-fishing (using hats in all your profiles to hide baldness), photoshopping images, dog-fishing (posing with dogs that are not yours) are all techniques guys use to gain an edge.

If you manage to succeed in your photos, you will likely not succeed going from date #1 to date #2.

Be honest with yourself – work on self-improvement (exercise, eat well, be more social, research hair regrowth supplements). Many guys never solicit third party advice on their photos, app choice, bios – don’t be this guy. Get help. There is an inherent bias when it comes to perception and guys can get all the help they can use. Reducing uncertainty to any catfishing going on will help out with likes and matches.

Wardrobe: What To Wear in Your Dating Profile Photos (Tips On Style, Wardrobes & More)

It’s not helpful to have good photos but also look good as well. What you wear is just as important as your expressions. Many women like to see a range of looks to show physique, give an idea of how you dress up for an event as well as how you look when you roll out of bed.

Having good attire is crucial for not only showing versatility but providing insight into style, personality and appearance.

Make sure your clothes fit. Baggy items can make you look bulky, heavy. Wearing all dark colors can make you seem dark, distant, unwelcoming. Wearing graphic comic book t-shirts can make you seem childish, immature.

Wearing sports items can suggest you will be glued to the TV all autumn during football season. One photo here and there will not hurt but multiple examples can suggest a lifestyle.

Best Dating Profile Pictures For Guys, Male Profile Pics

The general vibe you want to convey is approachable, confident in your own skin, unique, and interesting. Guys often times try too hard in their photos and look too mysterious, narcissistic, full of themselves or afraid to show emotion, vulnerability.

What might have worked on Tinder to attract shallow women will not work for Hinge, Bumble etc. You have to step your game up but you don’t need staged, portrait type professional photos with blurted backgrounds.

How Do Guys Take Good Dating Profile Pictures: Best Hinge, Bumble Dating App Photos For Men

Smile, relax, dress well, update your wardrobe, don’t look too intense, be candid, show approachability, use good body language and posture. 27 Dating Profile Examples For Men: Make the Perfect Profile to Attract Women

Dating doesn’t have to be like a scene from Armageddon (the asteroid scenes, not the ones with Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck.) That’s exactly why we’ve compiled a list of dating profile examples for men. Follow these tips in your online dating profile and you’ll be in the group of men getting so many matches and messages you won’t be able to keep up with all the dating; you’ll feel like Fabio or Casanova, and dating or writing your profile won’t be the scariest thing you do anymore.

1. Avoid generalizations

In the pictured dating profile examples for men, it’s easy to see why generalizations are not always the best route for men to take; good examples of dating profiles can be hard to come by.

For the average man, it’s great that you like sports, cooking, and going to funny movies. However, so do 90% of other men who are dating. Putting these in your dating profile looks a bit lazy, and quite frankly, boring. People are incredibly fickle these days, thanks to how quick the internet is, and for the fact that we can get whatever we want, whenever we want delivered to our door at any time. Dating for people these days can be as easy as getting a pizza delivered. In theory.

Women are so quick to swipe left on a Tinder profile without even reading the bio. Hence, the reason dating apps like this had to come up with a way to reverse back on a profile. We have so many choices these days that just walking down the cereal aisle at the grocery store can be a stressful experience, much like dating sites themselves.

You want your dating profile to stick out; be the Reese’s Puffs of the dating world and make people stop and say, “Wow, what a unique and delicious looking cereal! I better buy that before it sells out!”

Generalizations also make it look as if you didn’t care enough to spend more than five minutes writing your profile, looking up tips for dating, or online dating profile examples, and this shows a lack of interest. When someone is going through profile upon profile, they’re looking for someone who sees finding a partner and dating as important. If someone is going to take the time to view your profile, message you and try to get to know you, they’ll want to see that you’re taking dating as seriously as they are. Check out the pictured online dating profile examples for more tips.

2. Be Detailed and Specific

If you like sports, what kinds of sports do you like? Do you like watching them, or playing them? Is it a big part of your life? For men in the dating world, it’s important to know how a woman will add to the life you currently have.

What about cooking? Do you cook everyday? Is it a daily hobby or just something you do once a in a while? Do you cook for other people? Your profile should express this (plus, men who cook are more likely to have an active dating life, women love to eat. A lot.)

For everything you think you want to write in a dating profile, ask yourself questions about it until you’ve got it down to something detailed and specific. A dating profile should tell someone who you really are and what makes you tick.

For example, if you start dating someone, they’re going to want to know how your lives would mesh together. Will your dating life be cooking them delicious tacos while the two of you stay in for the night, wearing onesies and watching Netflix? Or, do you volunteer at a soup kitchen, cooking for the homeless?

One of the best tips is to share specifics and get into the nitty-gritty of who you really are deep down, and what it would be like dating you. You can see this in the pictured dating profile examples for men.

3. But, Don’t Be Too Detailed

While it’s important to write dating profiles that show who you are and what you’re about, there is nothing wrong with a little mystery in your profile either. So, what is oversharing when it comes to dating and write a profile? Talking about how your ex-girlfriend dumped you while you proposed to her on a gondola in Venice, causing you to cry in public? Probably a story you’ll want to save for the fourth date and not share in a dating profile. That’s one of the best tips you’re going to get.

The fact that you failed your driving exam 12 times? Don’t say that to someone you just started dating. Keep that to yourself and leave it out of your profile. Getting thrown in the dumpster by the school bully, leading to 5 years of therapy? Save it for a later. Dating can be harsh, and you don’t want to add so much to your profile that women want to take a step back.

Show the best side of yourself while dating, like the fact that you’re really funny, and save the rest for one of those wine fueled talks that go late into the night, or pillow talk. Pictured are some dating profile examples for men that show the perfect amount of detail.

4. Use Spell Check and Proper Grammar

If you can’t spell the word “beautiful” or “psychology” in your profile without messing it up, potential OkCupid dates really don’t need to know that. Men, run your dating profile through a spell checker and grammar checker; with everything we have on the internet these days, there is just no excuse for looking like you didn’t pass elementary school. If not for your dating life, then at least for writing from your professional email address.

Just like a job application or resume, bad spelling is one of the first things people will use to weed out a good dating profile from a bad one; don’t let your dating profile be passed over for something so tiny and easily fixed, this is one of the most important tips that will help you stand out . For an example of what not to do, check out some of the dating profile examples for men that are pictured.

5.Choose  Photos Carefully

One of the more important tips you need to rememeber: You don’t want to have someone laughing at your profile picture, comparing you to Mike”The Situation” Sorrentino. For gym-going men, they tend to love to show off their fit bodies. If you’ve got abs, great, but you don’t need to take a picture of yourself staring down at them like a woman stares at her baby bump, with love and admiration. Send that photo to your gym buddies. Men, women can be quick to judge when dating, and you don’t want to be the butt of a funny joke while she’s drinking with her friends.

If you do have a fit body, women will be able to tell. It’s easy to make this obvious by talking about your love of working out, sports, and going to the gym (you can even make sure you’ve got a giant can of protein powder in the background of one of your photos if it’s really that important to you.) You can show off your body and personality at the same time; share pictures of yourself playing sports, or hiking with your friends.

Pictures in your dating profile should show your personality, and they should be clear. Some examples: A selfie, a picture of you participating in hobbies, you with a group of friends. If you love to go out dancing and drinking at clubs, show that. If you prefer to stay in reading or watching t.v. at night, you can show that in your photos as well. Pictured are some online dating profile examples to help you out with more tips.

6. Avoid Looking Desperate

In the past, having an online dating profile would sound like bit of a joke in the dating world, or at the very least, for desperate losers who clearly had something wrong with them because they couldn’t get a date. However, these days, everyone is on dating apps and it’s considered one of the most common ways to meet someone. Gone are the days of normal dating, like approaching someone in a natural way. Having a dating profile is now seen as the standard for almost everyone.

Unfortunately, many men who are interested in dating seem to have retained that air of desperation, and they show it in their dating profile. What does this look like? Explaining in every detail how much you’ve been hurt in the past, and claiming that every woman is just a cold, callous heartbreaker. Claiming in your dating profile that you just don’t understand why nobody likes you is a dating faux pas. Even worse in the dating world would be saying your mom is always telling you what a swell guy you are, and you can’t figure out why women don’t see that. Men, this is defined as dating desperation. Follow these tips to avoid that mistake.

Being negative in your dating profile on dating apps only serves to make women avoid you, and swipe left so fast the threat of whiplash is real. Desperation in a dating profile is negative, and so is complaining about your life, hating on your exes, and acting as if girls should still want to date you because you’re a “nice guy.” Nobody wants that kind of drama in their life. Dating profile examples for men are pictured, should you need to see a a profile in action.

7. Show You Are Content Being Single

Jerry Maguire truly ruined the perception of what dating and relationships should be like for people. He was quick to tell the woman he loved, “You complete me.” It was the most insecure thing anyone could ever say, and is not a healthy way to go about dating. When two people come together, you should each be whole people who compliment one another, not two halves that would fall apart if you stopped dating.

One of the best tips for your dating profile: Show that you have your own life going, complete with hobbies, friends, a career, and passions. You’ll want to show women in your dating profile that you won’t be clinging on to them after the first date, expecting a text back within 30 seconds, or claiming you’re in love with them and want to get married after a week. Those are not the kind of men that find dating to be easy.

Write about yourself in a way that shows you bring something to a relationship or first date. Your dating profile should prove to the woman viewing it that you’ll have something to talk about over dinner and that you won’t sit there in silence expecting her to carry the entire conversation.

Check out some of the dating profile examples for men that are pictured if you’re looking for more tips.

8. Don’t Put Your Profile On Too Many Dating Sites

There are so many dating apps and websites these days, that it makes the whole dating game feel a bit like The Hunger Games, and having too many will bring quick destruction to your psyche.

While it’s tempting to try to make the odds work in your favor and make a profile on every single one, things can get complicated when you’re trying to maintain twelve different dating profiles.

Let’s say you’re in the popular pool of men, those who get 2 matches on Tinder, a match on OkCupid, and 3 messages on Bumble in a day. How can you establish a connection or plan a date with any of these women? Your little black book of dates will suddenly become a full-time job (and you’ll end up spending a whole lot of money rather than earning it.)

Not only that, but if women see your dating profile pop up on so many different dating apps, it may come off as looking a little too eager.

Check out the pictured dating profile examples for tips and tricks to get a quick response from the women you like.

9. Use Some Humor (But Don’t Copy and Paste) To Show How Funny You Are

Especially on dating apps like Tinder, when your dating profile needs to be shorter and grab the attention of potential dates very quickly, being funny goes a long way. Putting a joke on your dating profile, even something a little self-deprecating, can bring out a laugh from women looking at it. Funny is something that will always make us swipe right. Women love a funny guy (it really explains how Chandler ended up dating Monica.)

Showing that you’re funny or can laugh at yourself is one of the most desired traits in a partner, however, be authentic. Don’t go on Pinterest or Google funny jokes to put on your dating profile, and just copy and paste them, it will be completely obvious. Not only that, but on dating apps like Bumble or Tinder, where women can scroll through a hundred profiles a minute, it’s highly likely that a copy and pasted joke will show up multiple times, eliciting an eye-roll , and not a funny one.

For dating profile examples and tips, check out the pictured bios.

10. Have a Call To Action

Despite you following all these tips, a lot of the time, women are still afraid to make the first move, even dating online. We may find a guy super attractive and love his dating profile, but hesitate to contact him. Sending a message in a dating app is the equivalent of walking up to a cute stranger in a bar, praying they’ll be open to dating you rather than look you up and down, and point at you while they laugh with their huge group of friends. Making the first move leaves one vulnerable to rejection, and those wounds can run deep.

In your online dating profile, make a call to action, letting women know you’re open to receiving messages. Write at the bottom that you are open to being contacted, or going out for a drink. Check out the pictured online dating profile examples for men to get an idea of what you can put on dating sites like OkCupid.

11. Extra Tip: If All Else Fails, Put a Picture Of Your Dog In Your Profile Picture

While this is somewhat overused, it would be lying to say a dog in your dating profile doesn’t work. There is nothing better than cute puppies and will absolutely make a woman stop in her swiping tracks, and clicking on your dating profile immediately. Though you should be warned, she might just be messaging you in order to meet your dog, so talk to your potential date a bit and make sure she’s not a gold-dogger (hah!)

Follow these dating profile tips, check out the dating profile examples for men and you’ll be the Brad Pitt of every dating app, attracting women and “matches” every single day; you’re phone will be getting new message notifications every hour on the hour.

46 Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys

A third of Americans ages 18-44 have used dating apps.

Despite being widely disliked, dating apps still stalk single men and women around like an ex-lover in need of a restraining order.

Hate or love them, dating sites and apps are home to more single women than every college campus in the USA combined.

So you have two options. One is to go the way of the luddite and eschew dating apps in favor of meeting women IRL. Or you suck it up and join the party being attended by more single females of age than are located in the entire state of California.

Now that I have your attention, it’s time to begin.

Just because there are a ton of singles females using dating apps, it doesn’t necessarily mean your odds of finding a mate are high.

Because while men are more than generous when it comes to who they swipe right on, women tend to be a bit pickier. This is because men far outnumber women on dating apps. This scarcity grants women the ability to be a bit more choosy when it comes to who they swipe right on.

According to one study, the most attractive 78% of women only swiped right on the top 20% of men. That means that if you’re not an 8/10 on the attractive scale, it’s likely that you won’t be notching many matches. That is of course unless you know how to create a quality profile.

We’ll show you everything you need to know about creating an amazing dating profile in our Dating Decoded program. You’ll learn which photos to choose, how to take amazing photos, swiping strategy, and much more. But before you enroll let’s give you a taste of what’s to come by examining what makes the following profiles so swippable.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Dating apps are all about constructing an image that the female users find more favorable than competing profiles.

This means giving a damn about your bio as well as photos. To help you construct a profile that’s worthy of a swipe right we’re going to show you 38 of the best dating profile examples for guys.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #1: Fantasize Together

Women want to know where you’re going. Dating a dude that’s going nowhere may have been nice during high school, but now that the women around you are all grown up they’ll want to invest in a man that has his life figured out. This profile is brilliant because it allows the reader to bask in the fantasy of the user. Who would oppose to retiring in 8 years, raising Ivy League children, and marrying their best friend? Even if you don’t have your life completely figured out, a fantasy profile such as this one gives her a sense of who you are as well as where you’re going.

#2: Shows Character While Making You LOL

best dating profile examples for guysI know exactly who his guy is. He doesn’t write a litany of things of traits trying to convince me of who he is. Instead, he illustrates his character by penning a little scenario in which he’s the hero that saves the spider instead of the villain that kills it with a flip-flop. As your 11th grade English teacher always used to say, “show, don’t tell.”

#3: Brief And To The Point

dating app profile examples for guysNo woman wants to spend time trying to figure a guy’s profile out. They don’t want to read ambiguous relationship goals, rather they prefer someone like Eric. Eric tells it to me straight. He doesn’t have kids, has never married, and is looking for a serious relationship. That’s all valuable information that a woman wants to know before a first date. But he doesn’t just talk about his relationship goals, he also tells the reader about his hobbies. He’s clearly trying to attract a certain type of woman.

#4: Bold & Creative

dating app profile examples for menThis is a bold profile. Sure it’s humorous, but it’s also a bit weird. I mean the guy calls markets himself as a “cybernetic companion.” He is only able to pull it off because of the humor. Creativity is what you need to stand out. Just don’t stand out as the creepy guy.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #5: Brief

dating profiles for menHer swipe finger is on fire. The average women logs onto Tinder about 11 times a day spending 8.5 minutes per session swiping for Mr. Right. She isn’t leisurely swiping during these sessions. Like the screen-addicted single woman she is, she’s not wasting time reading through profiles that have bios longer than a paragraph. Sure this male user didn’t put a ton of effort into writing his profile. However, he does write just enough to attract the attention of the average female swiper.

#6: Don’t State the Obvious

dating profile examples for guysYou be the judge. Would you imagine this profile to rack up the likes, or be tossed aside like a multitude of other pedestrian profiles? It can be tough to tell, but if you examine each sentence individually you’ll see that this bio is just collage of sappy romantic cliches. Sure if she sees this just after having read any Nicholas Sparks novel she may go for it, everyone else with vehemently run to the bathroom, barf, and then swipe left.

#7: The Curveball

funny dating profile examplesEach dating profile calls for a dash of surprise. In the profile above, that surprise presents itself in the form of opium smoking. The first two nouns describing himself are underwhelming, but just when you think this profile won’t be worth reading you see the words, “opium smoker.” The profile works because it’s got a balance of surprise and banality. Just be sure that you never come across as a heavy drug user.

#8: He Lives IRL

exampleMost matches stay matches. Rarely do two people that have matched on a dating app ever meet up IRL. This person clearly wants to buck that trend. From his profile, we glean that he’s adventurous and wants that adventure to include the reader. Allow your reader to fantasize about future events with you. Who doesn’t want to take a spontaneous trip around the world or hike an epic mountain?

#9: Balance & Humor

dating app profilesThe perfect profile is akin to the one you just read. It uses pithy humor to showcase who the man user is. When you’re competing against literally thousands of other men, you can’t afford to write a boring dating profile. Stand apart by demonstrating who you are with wit.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #10: Acknowledges The Game

This profile would’ve been kind of lame had that first line not been included. This elevator pitch makes the reader stick around. She can spare less than 10 seconds to read a profile. A profile shouldn’t be an essay. A bio must be nothing more than a joking boast or two and an illustration of who you are.

#11: Meh

dating profiles for menI’ll give this guy credit, he gives me something to latch onto. If I’m anyone of the things he listed I may be interested and want to learn more. However, this will likely only be the case if he attached his IG. If you’re a writer, poet, and artist, why is it so hard for you to write a compelling profile? Would Henry Miller ever write a profile like this?

#12: Highlight Your Advantages

dating app profiles for guysLet’s say you’re a 5’6 entrepreneur. One of those facts doesn’t deserve highlighting. I’m not suggesting you lie, but until you’re viewed as more than a virtual card that she can swipe into the abyss, only make known what’s great about you. Women love ambitious entrepreneurs. And after getting to know who you are, she’ll probably love short dudes too.

#13: Direct

examples of dating profiles for guysThis is the perfect dating profile example of a man that doesn’t want to waste the female user’s time. By letting it be known he’s a father and man of faith he’s broadcasting to a certain audience. The net he’s thrown is specifically designed to catch only certain users.

#14: Unabashed Personality

This guy isn’t afraid to show his true colors. The issue is that those colors resemble those found in the toilet the morning after you’ve wolfed down chicken wings dipped in devil sauce. Look, this profile will work for some women, but very few. Most women aren’t into guys that wear sweatpants to the bar. They also don’t want to date someone that’ll put them behind two dogs in the pecking order. He’s obviously segmenting his audience, which can be a good thing when MegaDating.

#15: Hilarious -Yes, I’m Laughing At You

When I read this profile I picture a personal trainer that’s simultaneously yelling motivational cliches while trying to score my number. It’s jarring. That first line starts off so well, but then he shifts up the tone by yelling at me. Also hot tip for guys, never use exclamation points at work or when talking to females you don’t know. We read it as an angry man yelling at us. That’s not how you get my number.

#16: The Tinder X-mas Tree

This is what I like to call a x-mas tree. It’s ornamented with tons of sparkling trinkets that are meant to catch your attention. If you don’t like Aretha Franklin, maybe you’ll be attracted to Smashing Pumpkins or Napoleon Dynamite. While it helps identify similarities, a mutual admiration for Hemingway is shallow and doesn’t give me a solid indication of how compatible we really are.

Funny Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Funny Dating Profiles Example #17: A Genuine LOL

funny dating profile examples for guysListing out your likes and dislikes as if your profile were a shopping list is easy. Writing an original one-liner that makes me laugh is difficult. Wit is a sign of intelligence. Show her that you’re funny and smart, don’t list it. While brief, Derek’s profile is worthy of a swipe right.

#18: Playful Boasting

funny dating profile example for guysDating applications are the perfect place to boast. Especially if those boasts are playful.

#19: Equilibrium

funny dating profilesIf the profile contained just those first two sentences it’d be humorous but not swipe worthy. The last sentence provides the necessary amount of upbeat shading that this profile needs in order to score some matches.

#20: Self-Depreciation

dating funny profiles for menSelf-deprecating humor works, but only if it’s balanced. Perhaps that balance comes from your photos or IG account. The point is that you can’t just joke about how you’re bad at everything. Self-deprecation can only come after she truly knows that you’re not in fact bad at everything.

Funny Dating Profiles Example #21: Don’t Be Cliche

This is funny… for those that haven’t heard it before. Many men claim that a committee in their head voted them the best date. It’s almost as cliche as female users salivating over tacos. Avoid cliches or be ready to receive fewer matches.

#22: Concise, Funny, Revealing

funny dating profile examples for guysOne line about the man’s profession and another about his fears. It’s direct and playful -the female user doesn’t have time for anything else.

#23: Make Fun Of Dating

dating profiles for menWe all know how absurd modern dating is. We post our romantic resumes online and peruse them while on the toilet. This user makes fun of modern dating and gets a laugh out of you by the end of it. The process of dating is awkward, don’t be embarrassed to acknowledge it.

#24: Put Words In Her Mouth

dating profilesQuoting her feelings about you is ballsy, just don’t be too cocky about the quote.

#25: Drive-By Lover

A brief and funny dating profile example for guys. All women want to do is chuckle, thanks Chuck.

Funny Dating Profiles Example for Guys #26: Accelerated Bonding

Accelerate a bond by talking about your future life together. Just make sure it’s a happy fantasy.

 #27: Personality Shines Through

Let your personality shine through. That’s the point of a dating profile. We don’t need to know everything about you, only that you’re worth swiping right on.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #28: Animals Always Win

witty dating profiles for guysIt’s proven that pictures with animals get more likes than the average photo on Hinge.

If photos with animals get liked, double your odds of a match by talking about them too.

#29: Entertain Us

witty dating profile examples for guysPeter sounds more like a dude I’d like to kick it with than a buddy, but at any rate this profile persuades me to give him a chance and meet him IRL.

#30: Foodie

witty dating profilesEveryone’s a foodie nowadays. It seems like there are now more shows on Netflix about foods than sitcoms -how did that happen? At any rate, food jokes (and food confessions) are not en vogue.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #31: LMAO

For once I wish someone would write a dating bio worth reading to the end. Oh look at that, wish granted.

#32: Flaunt Your Good Side

Hey man, women like tall dudes, that’s just a fact. Don’t suppress your most appealing aspects, flaunt them.

#33: Twist And Turns

creative dating profile examples for guysThe profile starts off cheesy with the use of a cliche. But then the user goes on to remix various romance cliches. Well done, sir, women will appreciate the curveball.

#34: Shared Interests

This guy’s casting a wide net. Coffee drinkers far and wide will consider swiping right based on just this one shared commonality.

#35: What A Gentleman

unique dating profile examples for guysTalk about a man that will take a bullet for you.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #36: I’m Lost And Don’t Want To Be Found

Of course, we don’t know how tall these men are, but it doesn’t matter. The association is a plus and the giggle was appreciated as well.

#37: Thanks For The Picture

Making fun of his masculinity shows this guy can take a joke.

#38: Talk About A Busty Man

This guy wrote his dating profile with his chest out. Inflated or not female users still want to swipe this guy, if anything just to find out which is the lie.

#40: Tell Her About Your Sunday

((add photo))

She wants specifics. As a complete stranger, she won’t agree to meet you IRL until she has at least an inkling of your personality. Show her who you are by providing specifics.

It can be easy to just list out a bunch of hobbies as this profile above almost does. But instead of a list we see these activities more so in the light of a story. Each line connects with the one above creating a narrative rather than a litany of things.

#41: Weed Out Women That Aren’t Ready For You

best dating profiles

Don’t waste your time trying to attract women that don’t want to date men with children.

Your children will obviously be the priority. You won’t throw them in a corner to make way for some stranger from Bumble. Let it be known you’re a proud father. This will weed away incompatibles and attract those that are ready for a serious relationship with a father.

#42: Flex Those Fatherly References

best dating profiles

Be topical and throw in plenty of fatherly references.

Be proud that you’re a divorced father in his 40s. If you’re going to put yourself out there you might as well do so in style.

#43: Show Off

best dating profiles

Don’t hide who you really are.

You’re old enough to know who you are and to be comfortable with your obscure likes and dislikes. Don’t waste your time trying to attract a woman that isn’t interested in what gets you jazzed.

#44: Nicholas Sparks Himself Would Swoon

best dating profiles

Awww.

Just because you’re pursuing older women doesn’t mean they’re not into sappy lines.

#45: Finally A Man That Doesn’t Play Games…

best dating profiles

Stand out from the rest by putting a twist on stale cliches. So many men write the same platitudes in their profiles. This user switches things up by injecting a little wit into a cliche dating app line.

#46: Seems Like You Two Have A Lot In Common

best dating profiles

A high-quality dating app profile for an older man is funny, makes their interests known, and is direct.

Far too many men are window shopping on dating apps.

Women have taken note.

They yearn for a direct man that wants to take them on a real date.

Be that man.

Dating Profile Photo Tips for Guys

A dating profile is important, but it’s not complete without a solid lineup of photos. When choosing your roster of photos here are some things you’ll want to keep in mind.

  • The first photo should always be of just yourself. Save the group shots for later. Don’t wear glasses or hats and keep your shirt on (yes even if you have a six-pack).
  • Puppy picks kill. A Hinge study found that pictures that included animals were much more likely to be liked than the average Hinge photo.
  • Be sporty. Women like dudes that play sports. I’m not talking about ping-pong, but contact sports like soccer and rugby.
  • If your buddy is better looking than you, don’t use the photo.
  • Display at least one photo of yourself traveling abroad.
  • Demonstrate who you are. Everyone uses the same types of pictures. Spice things up by posting pictures that reveal your true character.
  • NO SELFIES!

Men posing with fish on dating apps: Hot new catch or toxic bros?

For these trout-toting Romeos, it could soon be love at first bite.

Dating apps have served a smorgasbord of swoon-inducing male suitors of late — with profile pics that highlight the latest turn-ons, from chicken parm-wielding charmers and “Machu men” mountaineers to West Elm Caleb’s shady promise of mid-century modern bliss.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a new trend has been netting the ladies’ attention: the big fish flaunter.

These bass-anovas are inundating singles with profile pics of prized hauls from bluegills to bass — and many grouper groupies are swallowing the fin-omenon hook, line and sinker.

Now, women are debating whether the ubiquitous fish photos are the next big catch on dating apps — or a symptom of toxic masculinity.

“One day, I’m on an app [Bumble], out of 25 swipes, 10 of the peeps were holding fish,” Elizabeth Hlotyak, 47, a freelance photographer from White Plains, told The Post. She began to suspect this was a fishy new dating trend.

“Nothing wrong with fishing, I love to go fishing. I just don’t get [why he sent me] videos of him pulling in marlin off the Gulf of Mexico.”

Elizabeth Hlotyak on what’s become a running joke amongst her friends

And new survey numbers appear to back up Hlotyak’s theory: The angling app Fishbrain analyzed the Tinder profiles of 100 young men in Virginia (ages 18 to 25) — and found that a whopping 42% opted to include one pic featuring themselves hoisting a recently caught fish (a prior survey found that 8% of New York dating profiles featured a fish, and 22% for Florida).

“It has definitely played a part in whether we choose to swipe right,” Camille, a member of the Tri Delta sorority at Virginia Tech, told The Post, declining to give her last name or age for privacy reasons. She’s of one many surveyed sorority gals who reported seeing “loads of guys showing off their fish every time” she logs onto Tinder and other dating platforms.

"One day, I'm on an app [Bumble], out of 25 swipes, ten of the peeps were holding fish," Elizabeth Hlotyak, 47, a freelance photographer from White Plains, New York, told the Post of the omnipresent fishing fraternity.

Melissa Hobley, CMO of the leading dating app OkCupid, told The Post she’s “definitely seen an uptick in professional fishermen being more popular on OkCupid.”

The trend coincides with a nationwide increase in anglers putting lines in the water — a practice dubbed “social fishtancing” following many people’s scrambles to find COVID-safe activities during the pandemic.

And this unorthodox date bait is apparently a point of attraction: The new Fishbrain survey found that more than one in seven (roughly 15%) of 235 Tri Delta sisters saw men who posed with recently caught fish on Tinder as more attractive than those who did not. Also, per a prior Facebook survey of 1,000 Florida sorority members, 46% of young American women in their late teens and early- to mid-twenties actually prefer the former.

They nab fish and women with their lines.

What’s the allure of a guy toting a trophy catch? Camille explained: “It makes men seem more athletic and powerful.”

“Maybe it correlates to their ability as a breadwinner, but I think more likely that holding a massive fish has other connotations,” the college gal added, cheekily. “Holding a giant fish is for sure more attractive than posing with some small, dull, unimpressive catch.”

Attraction “can also depend on the type of fish, as some are definitely nicer to look at than others,” added Camille.

In order to deem which fish make men the most enticing, Fishbrain took the 2021 survey participants who preferred fish-flaunters and presented them with a lineup of anonymized dating profile images featuring different species. They then asked them to rate how much more attractive each fish made the potential match on a scale of one to 10.

"In a time when so many men are out of touch with their masculinity, a photo of him with his big fish subconsciously signals to match that he can survive in the wild,” NYC matchmaker Amy Van Doran of Modern Love Club told the Post. “A hold over from when we used to pick our mates based on survival and who can help the child survive infancy." She added, "If the men really want to look sexy they should get their photos in a cave with a loin cloth and a club.”

The biggest catch, with a score of 6.1, was the hogfish — a colorful critter that evokes the lovechild of a snapper and a swine, growing up to 24 pounds. Despite its oddball countenance, women theoretically found this Atlantic ocean dweller appealing due to its “unusual pink and red color,” said Camille. “Also, it has a weird mouth,” she added.

Clocking in dead last at 2.3 was the striped bass — a staple of New York fishery — which weighs up to three times as much as a hogfish, but is comparatively monochromatic. It’s apparently not the size of the fish, but how you choose it.

When it comes to dating profiles, women prefer a man with a giant hog-fish.

Sam Kim, 23, an Illinois data scientist who posts fishy photos to Hinge, Tinder and Bumble, told The Post that snaps of bass and other “non-impressive fish” were ignored by potential matches. However, when the Northwestern University grad uploaded a profile pic featuring a “pretty” African pompano, he got multiple likes in one week.

Presentation and photography are also important, and several female social media users have even dedicated themselves to judging men’s fish shots like an ichthyological Westminster Kennel Club show.

“Is there anything inherently wrong with this fish? No,” wrote TikTok user @rachellloooo in a review of a fly fisherman posing with a trout. “But why must he hold as if it is a shlong?”

"Holding a giant fish is for sure more attractive than posing with some small, dull, unimpressive catch." said Camille [last name withheld] a Virginia Tech senior who's a member of the school's Tri Delta sorority.

Determining Tinder matches by their catch-of-the-day might sound superficial. But relationship gurus believe that this behavior is rooted in the instinct to judge a potential partner’s ability to put food on the table — the logic being: the bigger the fish, the more adept its provider.

“In a time when so many men are out of touch with their masculinity, a photo of him with his big fish subconsciously signals to match that he can survive in the wild,” NYC matchmaker Amy Van Doran of the Modern Love Club told the The Post. “[It’s] a holdover from when we used to pick our mates based on survival, and who can help the child survive infancy.”

Some women found fish photos a symptom of toxic masculinity.

Van Doran added, “If the men really want to look sexy, they should get their photos in a cave with a loin cloth and a club.”

This perception of fish-flaunters as prehistoric stragglers has reached such a fever pitch that it was parodied in a New Yorker article: “I Am a Tinder Guy Holding a Fish and I Will Provide for You,” which includes the perennial line: “I will provide you with many orgasms and sea bass.”

The striped bass was ranked the least attractive trophy fish, per the Fishbrain survey.

However, not all woman are as smitten, with many believing that the trend is emblematic of toxic bass-culinity.

“They are a hallmark of a certain type of dude: bro-y, wants to seem outdoorsy and a ‘manly man,'” a 33-year-old attorney, who’s chosen to remain anonymous, told The Post. “I think there is probably some psychological explanation, like they are trying to show they can provide or something, but I don’t think they think it through that hard.”

The North Carolina resident continued, “I also grew up in the South and the people who went fishing frequently were generally gun-toting republican types that are not the people I want to spend my life with. So I may have bad connotations from my upbringing. Overall, I think it ties into toxic masculinity in a way that I find off-putting and unattractive.”

In fact, even some female anglers are baffled by them. “Nothing wrong with fishing, I love to go fishing. I just don’t get [fish in profile pics],” added Hlotyak, who pointed out that it’s a running joke amongst her friends. She recalled reaching out to one such angler on Bumble, only to cut bait after he started sending her random “videos of him pulling in marlin off the Gulf of Mexico.”

Fishbrain, one of the world's leading angling apps.

Fortunately, not all fishermen post bass snaps to stroke their egos.

“I use fish pics because I’m usually happiest in them,” said John Prioli, a North Carolina native and 15-year fishing veteran, told the Cut in a 2018 interview. “It’s the culmination of waking up early (or going out late), busting your ass to get out there, bringing the right gear, presenting the fish with the right bait or lure in the right place and time and finally just being able to hold the animal for a while and take a photo.”

Meanwhile, environmentalist AJ Scheff said he simply “wanted to make my hobby known in hopes to find someone who also enjoys it as much as me.”

“At the very least, that’s a cool photo that tees up an ice breaker on any dating app,” said OKCupid’s Melissa Hobley.

Either way, a fish pic is a conversation starter.

Aim For Maximum Attractiveness In Your OkCupid Profile

OkCupid profiles are quite a bit different than other online dating sites like Plenty Of Fish and Match.

Instead of one main “About Me” type introduction, OkCupid profiles consist of 9 main sections, with the ability to add more by choosing additional topics from the menu.

For each section, you can select one prompt to answer from a list of 5 or 6.

Choosing a prompt from each one isn’t mandatory, but you need to provide enough information to intrigue her.

The perfect OkCupid profile gives her a glimpse of what spending time with you would be like, and putting some time into your profile also lets her know you’re serious about meeting someone.

That's essential if you're in the market for a long-term relationship.

example of a bad okcupid profile example

Not all prompts will show you in the best possible light, so it’s important to choose wisely.

The modern dating experts at VIDA have been writing compelling, intriguing profiles for guys just like you since 2009, and you’re about to benefit from all the research we’ve put in.

When maximum attractiveness is your goal, here are the best OkCupid profile prompts to answer – along with a few effective examples and tips for each one!

About Me Examples For OkCupid

OkCupid About Me examples

“My self-summary” is the best option here, as it’s a natural way to highlight a few of your most compelling traits – and illustrate some of the reasons why you’re 100% boyfriend/husband material.

This first example has mass appeal – any girl who’s spent 2 minutes browsing profiles can relate to it.

OkCupid Profile Example #1:

It hits all the right notes: career-minded, owns a home, strong values, means to travel, etc. She’ll mentally file you under “Great Catch” – and respond to your icebreaker.

This self summary example works because it hooks her attention from the very first sentence, just like any good advertising copy.

OkCupid Profile Example #2:

It helps to think of your profile like a commercial that puts forth all your best features.

Highlight your #1 selling point in the intro (in this case, a successful “suit & tie” career), and build on it in the next sections.

If you travel quite a bit, and have the photos to back it up, a Self Summary paragraph highlighting your sense of adventure elevates you from the more boring masses.

OkCupid Profile Example #3:

The Key Writing An Attractive Profile Is Simple

Show, don’t tell.

Providing an example of how you embody a specific quality is more attractive than just telling her you have it – i.e. don’t just write “I love to travel.” Tell her a travel story instead.

If you’re in your 20s or early 30s, you can get away with a little bit of cocky/over-the-top humor in your OkCupid profile.

If your ideal partner is in her late 30s+, too much humor in your dating profile can backfire.

More than half of single women say they’re burned out by online dating, so she likely just wants to check items off her “must have” list while skimming your profile.

And regardless of age, humor can be tough to get right simply because it's so subjective.

What makes one woman giggle might turn off another, and it will also set the stage for what she can expect from you in an onlineconversation.

If you miss the mark with the tone of your profile, she'll be less likely to “like” your profile and respond to your message.

This example works because it’s witty and over the top in an attractive way, then it brings you and the reader back down to earth.

OkCupid Profile Example #4:

Aspirations Examples For OkCupid

what I'm doing with my life OkCupid prompt

If you’re serious about finding your ideal partner, answer the “What I’m doing with my life” prompt.

The other choices imply you’re a guy with big dreams… but she’s more interested in what you’ve actually accomplished up to this point – as that’s the best indicator of what’s to come.

“Has a job” is on most women's list of non-negotiable must haves, so make sure to highlight yours.

OkCupid Profile Example #5:

When you’re describing your job, focus on the positive impact you have. Even if what you do isn’t particularly glamorous, you can spin it in an attractive way.

OkCupid Profile Example #6:

Achieve Work/Life Balance

Notice how the job description in both of the profile examples above is balanced with a few lines about what you like to do for fun.

Giving her the impression you’ve got a well-rounded life is more attractive than implying you’re all about work.

Mention activities she can picture herself enjoying with you, like travel. If it's something you do, that’s an attractive hobby.

OkCupid Profile Example #7:

Not only does it imply you’ve got the financial means to take fun trips, she’ll also imagine herself along for the ride.

OkCupid Profile Example #8:

Keeping what you write in your profile consistent with what’s in your photos is the key to success on OkCupid.

If you tell her all about your adventures abroad but don’t have a single travel photo for her to see, she’s going to feel like something doesn’t quite add up and move on.

Don’t worry if you like to keep things more local. You can make that sound just as appealing.

OkCupid Profile Example #9:

Talent Examples For OkCupid

Talent section of OkCupid profile

“I’m really good at” is the perfect opportunity to project some confidence & let her know why you're relationship material.

For instance, by saying you’re good at finding an excuse to break out the power tools, you’re subtly letting her know you’re a handy guy to have around the house.

OkCupid Profile Example #10:
alpha male OkCupid profile example

Studies have shown women are attracted to traits like bravery, courage, and a willingness to take risks, so try to choose a few hobbies that illustrate how you embody those traits.

In this example, scuba diving, surf boats, and fast-moving boats fill the bill.

OkCupid Profile Example #11:
okcupid profile example with alpha male traits

If you have any obscure, “weird” hobbies, this is also good place to describe them.

Examples of non-conformity actually make you more attractive, so if you’re into cosplay or D&D, drop a mention in.

Needs Examples For OkCupid

OkCupid profile needs section

The secret to an effective list in an online dating profile is simple: each entry needs to imply an attractive trait.

OkCupid Profile Example #12:

For instance “My running shoes” = physically fit.

“Monthly Sunday dinners with my parents = family guy.

“My German Shepherd Ceri” = responsible enough to care for another living creature.

Get the idea?

OkCupid Profile Example #13:

Avoid the cliché of listing basic necessities, like this:

bad OkCupid list example

Not only is it a way overdone joke, it doesn’t add any relevant information to your profile.

You’ll also miss out on the potential to show up in her results if she does a keyword search for a hobby or interest the two of you share.

Hobbies Examples For OkCupid

Hobbies profile section

If you’re looking for a serious relationship or marriage, “I spend a lot of time thinking about” gives you the best odds of elevating yourself above the competition.

She’s likely to be more interested in your thoughts than the fact you binge watch GoT or check out Drake videos.

But it goes without saying you want those thoughts to make you look like a good partner prospect.

OkCupid Profile Example #14:
OkCupid Profile Example #15:

Notice how the word “next” appears in both.

That single word has a lot of power – it lets her know you already own at least one property, and that you’ve been to at least once country.

It’s a subtle way to show her you’re a great catch without sounding like you’re bragging.

Moments Examples For OkCupid

OkCupid Moments section

Describing your typical Friday night gives her a sneak preview of what spending time with you could be like.

Just make sure your description sounds genuine – online daters tend to be more attracted to profiles that seem successful, humble and real.

OkCupid Profile Example #16:

If you answer it in a way that makes her wish she was hanging out with you, you're that much closer to a date.

OkCupid Profile Example #17:

Dating Examples For OkCupid

OkCu

Research has shown the most effective profiles are 70% about you, 30% about what you’re looking for in a woman, and the “You should message me if” is a golden opportunity to let her know.

You could also fill out the “What I’m actually looking for” prompt, but it’s not quite as effective.

That's for two reasons:

  1. “You should message me if” is a subtle way to let her know you’re not just looking for any woman – you’ve got standards. In other words, you’re giving her a chance to qualify herself, which is a move straight out of the confident male playbook.
  2. It’s an effective call to action – you’re telling her what she should do next.

Of course, a laundry list of items like “message me if you’re tall, blonde, and thin” will likely turn off most women.

It comes off as overly picky and a bit shallow. Besides, you can screen for those features using the search criteria.

Instead, pick a few non-physical characteristics and traits that are important to you…

OkCupid Profile Example #18:

And tell her about them in an interesting way.
OkCupid Profile Example #19:

No matter what profile sections you fill out, keep these OkCupid profile tips in mind:

  • Show, don’t tell
  • Use vivid imagery
  • Illustrate your most desirable qualities and personality traits
  • Spell check (yes, grammar matters)
  • Avoid boring lists
  • Keep each answer relatively short, as she may be reading it via the OkCupid app on a tiny phone screen.
EXPERT OKCUPID PROFILE TIP:

Regularly updating your profile by altering the text here and there will keep you in the top of her search results.

You can add more prompts to your profile at any time, simply by clicking on “Add More Topics” at the bottom of the profile editing screen. You’ll find subjects ranging from favorite books, movies and TV shows to music, art and cooking.

Taking a few minutes to answer additional prompts can really pay off, as specific details make it really easy for your matches to start a conversation with you.

Answering a few new OkCupid Match Questions periodically can also help freshen up your profile.

Plus, tackling topics like “About how long do you want your next relationship to last?” will help you attract like-minded people.

Here are the self-summaries of some men who have messaged me through Okcupid lately:

Guy 1: I don’t enjoy talking about myself but I’d say I am open minded, ambitious, and get along with almost everyone. I am not into clubbing scene so it is difficult to meet people hence the reason to have a profile here. I like to workout, read, watch movies and travel. I try to live a healthy lifestyle by exercising 3 – 4 times a week.

Guy 2: I am a man who is out to meet new people and make friends. I am an easy going person with a lot of smile and charm. Funny, competitive, hard working guy that likes to have a good time. Active, outgoing, smart and honest. Enjoying my kids, working out, working and having as much fun as possible. Hope we can connect.

Guy 3: I love people, cultures, traveling, and trying new things. I am very smart, confident, happy with my life, and always up for an adventure. I’ve had some amazing opportunities that have helped me be very successful and I’m excited for the possibilities of the future. I am honest and straightforward, but I’m not an open book. I’d be happy to tell you more, send me a message and we’ll take it from there.

Guy number 1 starts out by saying he doesn’t enjoy talking about himself, which immediately makes me think he would be uncomfortable on a first date. His interests, “workout, read, watch movies and travel,” are the same as 99% of guys on okc. Guy number 2 sounds social but shallow. His sentences make him sound like he’s not a native English speaker or he’s had too much to drink before writing this profile. Guy 3 gets plus marks for writing complete sentences and starting off in an upbeat way. But the “I’d be happy to tell you more” is cliché and somewhat egotistical. You haven’t proven that you’re interesting enough for me to message you, so to ask people to ask you about yourself in the first paragraph is a nonstarter.

If you are someone who is guilty of writing a self-summary like one of the above, the good news is lots of people do it so it doesn’t take much improvement to stand out. The bad news is your profile is all your potential matches have of you. They don’t have your resume, they can’t see your athletic prowess, taste your expertly grilled barbecue, or hear you tell funny stories in an animated voice. If your profile sounds boring or negative, they won’t be able to imagine you as anything else. Fortunately though, writing an outstanding profile is as easy as pie once you know what the questions are really asking. Here are some tips from a veteran online dater about what stands out and what stinks.

My Self-Summary

Every online dating site provides you with a text box in which to introduce yourself. This space is where your potential matches will first hear your voice and sense your personality beyond the photo. Your goal here is to immediately capture their attention so that it is impossible for them to stop reading after the first sentence. You want them to stay with you until the very end and feel like they got to know you as a person. The points to focus on in the self-summary are narrative, details, uniqueness, and confidence.

Narrative: Begin your self-summary with a sentence that launches into a story about yourself. Everyone loves a story. As soon as you start telling a story, everyone wants to know what happens next. This story should have attention grabbing details, unique references, and possibility for development. Here are some sample opening lines:

When I was six years old, my father who worked in the US Army moved my family from Japan to the United States, where I spent the rest of my childhood in Northern Virginia.

Five years ago I was laid off from my job as an IT professional. At the time I had always wanted to pursue a career in photography, so I seized on this opportunity to have a new career. Now I love what I do for a living.

As a single person who has lived in this city for a short time, I love the opportunity to meet cool people from many walks of life. At the last tropical themed potluck party that I hosted, I met someone who used to be personal secretary to the Prince of Dubai!

I grew up in a traditional Catholic family, but after my first Buddhist meditation retreat at age 25, I have been hooked by Eastern philosophy and spirituality ever since.

For a long time I wanted to be a doctor because I liked the idea of helping people, but as I learned more about pollution and environmental problems, I realized that I wanted to address health risks at the societal level. That got me into pursuing a masters in public health.

During the day I work as a government clerk, but the regular hours gives me freedom on the evenings and weekends to write songs and play music with my band, which is my real passion.

The story you choose to tell in your self-summary should reveal important personal journeys, values, and positive personality traits. Here are some questions to help you tell your story. You can answer one question in several paragraphs in your self-summary, or answer several questions with a paragraph each, or answer a bunch of these questions with one sentence each:

  • What was your childhood like and how has that influenced the person that you are today?
  • What was an important decision that you made in your life and why did you make that decision?
  • What was a difficult challenge that you faced and how did you overcome it?
  • How did you get into doing what you do for a living? If you don’t like what you do, what do you wish you could do instead?
  • Where would you like to see yourself in ten years?
  • Where is the most inspiring place to which you have traveled?
  • What person, book, or experience had a profound impact on you?
  • What is something you have done that you are very proud of?
  • What is your most prized possession?
  • What makes you feel creative or alive?
  • If you could volunteer for a cause what would that be and why?

If these questions sound like college admission personal statements, it’s because online dating is a lot like college admissions. The admissions officer has to make a decision as to whether or not you are a good match for their institution based on what you say about yourself. They want to know your background, your motivations, and your personality. These things are conveyed through stories that show your values, struggles, passions, and triumphs. Your story should bring out positive qualities that enable people to like you and trust you. The best stories are those with obstacles along the way that take your reader on a journey and leave them wanting an outcome. You should approach your dating profile the way you would approach a college admissions essay so that you present yourself as a match for the people you want to attract and stand out from the thousands of others that also want to be admitted.

Tell stories that appeal to type of person you want to attract: You are a multi-faceted person and no single story can convey everything about you. Therefore, the stories you choose to tell should reflect what you want others to know about you and appeal to the kind of person you want to attract and the relationship you want to have with them. For example, if you are looking for a marriage partner and eventually have children, talking about parties and working at Starbucks is not a good idea, instead, talk about the master’s degree you are earning and your love of children. If you are looking for someone creative to be inspired together, talk about your creative pursuits or the latest exhibit you attended. If you are looking for someone who is adventurous to explore new places with, a story about your travels is great. You get the idea.

Details: Details are what grab your reader and enable them to relate to your life. Instead of saying you like to travel, talk about a particularly meaningful trip that you have taken. Instead of saying you like to eat out, talk about your favorite cuisines and favorite venues. Instead of saying you love your children, describe what you love to do with them and what they add to your life. Talk about a specific memory that brings to life your interests and desires. Give us details of the location, names of people, the sights, the smells, your feelings in the moment. Tell us what happened before, during, and after. Here is an example of using details to tell a story from one of my essays:

Because I am an only child (a result of the one child policy in China), people sometimes ask me if I was lonely growing up. Truthfully I didn’t know what loneliness was until I moved to the United States. In China, my parents and I lived in an extended family household with my maternal grandmother, eight uncles and aunts, and five cousins (each of whom were only children). The “house” was a square shaped compound with units for each family on three sides, a courtyard in the middle, and a small garden in the front. There was always an adult at home and my cousins and I visited each other’s families like they were our own. All the adults cared for every child and we always had someone to play with.

Details are what brings your profile to life. By not focusing on yourself, but on your surroundings, experiences, and observations, a picture of who you are as a person emerges.

Uniqueness: What makes you different from others is what makes you memorable. Did you grow up in Montana or South Africa? Talk about it! Do you have a unique hobby like roller derby or building computers? Did you win a local pie eating contest? Did you go sky diving last summer? Do you have a metal rod where you broke your collarbone? Do you have a collection of model ships? Have you been on 100 blind dates? Whatever it is, something that is unique about you gives others a chance to be curious about you and ask for more information.

Confidence: Confidence is a key factor in making other people like you. Women love it in men. What conveys confidence? We’ve all heard of smile, make eye contact, and shake hands; what is the virtual equivalent of those things in a profile? A confident profile is one that presents a cohesive and compelling narrative. In less than 800 words you’ve conveyed your values, personality and warmth. Not only will your potential match feel like they relate to you but they like you and want to get to know you.  A confident profile shows that you know who you are and you are not afraid to show it. A profile that has details and unique hooks says that you don’t have anything to hide and you that you lead a rich and interesting life. A confident profile shows that you know where you are going in life and have a positive outlook. A profile that uses complete sentences and is devoid of grammatical errors shows you are intelligent, articulate, and cares about yourself and others. A profile that injects humor and personality shows that you are fun and engaging.

What not to do:

Adjectives: This is done all the time but please don’t start your profile with a list of adjectives describing yourself such as “I’m friendly, hard working, easy-going, ambitious, smart, honest, funny, etc.” Those words can be used to describe almost anybody and is totally overused. Instead, tell a story that shows a suite of characteristics that you want to highlight. In fact go through your current profile and nix any adjectives that pop up. See if you can say the same thing using specifics that show rather than tell.

List of interests: Also do not say anywhere in your profile “I like to travel, workout, read, be outdoors, and hang out with my friends.” First of all, almost every guy says that they like to travel, workout, read, be outdoors, and hang out with friends. Do you have some interest that is a little different from the norm? Maybe you enjoy pottery or kungfu, birdwatching or creating memes. Specificity also helps here. Instead of, “I like to travel,” say instead, “The most amazing place I’ve ever been to is Iceland.” Instead of “I like hiking,” say “I love backpacking in the canyonlands of Utah.” Instead of “I like hanging out with my friends,” say, “Whenever I get together with my guy friends we watch basketball and order nachos and buffalo wings.” Instead of “I like to read,” say, “I’m currently reading a book on how to be successful at online dating.”

Negative characteristics: Keep your profile positive and upbeat. Avoid complaining about your ex, complaining about your work, or complaining about online dating. Don’t say anything that might make you seem racist or sexist. Avoid anger or cynicism. Don’t say derogatory things about yourself unless they also highlight positive qualities. Don’t boast about your wealth or  material possessions. Don’t talk about your poverty or lack of direction in life. Also no-nos are bad jokes and sexual stories or innuendos.

Profiles that lack confidence are also turn offs. Don’t use sentences that start with, “I haven’t had much success dating so I thought I would try this…” or “I’m not very good at talking about myself…” or “I’m kind of a shy person so if there’s anything you want to know just ask…”

What you are looking for: Don’t talk about what you are looking for in a potential match, unless it’s a unique deal breaker. If you have too many requirements you will seem arrogant and judgemental. There are way more men in online dating than women so seeming picky won’t do you any favors. Also, don’t say things that people generally want in a partner, such as “I’m looking for an outgoing, intelligent woman to share the good things in life” or “I’m looking for someone who is honest and won’t lie to me.” Those are obviously desirable and mentioning them makes you sound cynical. If you do have a specific situation where something would be a deal breaker, it’s ok to mention those. For example, your potential match has to tolerate cats, or must be ok with you having multiple partners at the same time, or someone who doesn’t want children.

On OK Cupid, the dating profile allows you to fill out answers to the following questions. Other sites have other formats, but the responses can be used there as well.

What I’m doing with my life

If you didn’t use a story about your career in your self-summary, you can do that here. Be positive and specific. Instead of saying you are a teacher, say “I teach fourth grade English and Social Studies at a suburban private school.” If you love your job, say why. If you don’t love your job, say what benefits it give you and what you hope to do in the future or what you fantasize about doing if you could.

If you did talk about your work in your self-summary, use this space to tell us something else about your life, such as your hobbies, your social life, or your experiences.

I’m really good at

Here is an opportunity to promote what you would bring to a relationship, and tailor it to what you want out of a relationship. If you are looking for an emotionally intimate relationship, highlight your ability to listen, nurture, and cuddle. If you are looking for a domestic partner you might highlight your skills in cooking or fixing things. If you are looking for someone to have fun with you might mention your knack in finding good travel deals.

You might also use this space to reveal some qualities not revealed in the self-summary. So if your self-summary emphasizes your responsible, accomplished side, you might reveal a skill here that shows your playful, artistic side. If your self-summary emphasized your playful, exploratory nature, then use this space to show that you can be serious and persevering too. Skills that are unique to you are better than generic ones that lots of people possess.

The first things people usually notice about me

If there is something about your physical appearance that is unique and revealing, mention that. For example, “People often notice my funky t-shirts featuring my favorite bands and TV shows,” or “People often comment on the ‘tree of life’ tattoo on my lower arm.” Don’t say nondescript things like “my eyes,” or “my smile.”

If there is a personality trait that your friends would ascribe to you, you can talk about that too. For example, “I’ve been told that I can seem shy at first but am easy to talk to once I get to know someone.” or ““My friends would say that I am good at making people laugh.”

Favorite books, movies, shows, music and food

List a few favorites here that provide an insight into your tastes and personality, but don’t make it so many that people won’t read the whole thing. Lots of people also won’t recognize your specific favorites, so describe what you like in general, for example, “I like to read nonfiction books on psychology and human behavior” or “I like crime and action TV shows.”

The six things I could never do without

What material possessions or favorite things are unique to you? Things that other people might not need but are indispensable to you, that reveal your unique tastes and quirks? Explain each one a little bit. In my profile I put:

  • A journal (I have kept a journal since I was 11, never missed a week).
  • Long underwear (I am always cold!)
  • Vegetables (I think they are delicious)
  • Recycling bin (I can’t stand it when I want to recycle something and there is no bin nearby)
  • Tylenol (I get headaches a lot)
  • Library (I go at least once a month, check out a bunch of books, read one and return the rest)

Don’t put things that everybody can’t live without, such as air, water, food, family, friends, sex.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Here you can put something serious, like “I think a lot about global warming and whether the human species will survive the changes to our planet” or something silly, like “when I see strangers on the train or in the city, I sometimes wonder when was the last time they had an orgasm.” Make it real and personal.

On a typical Friday night I am

Here is where you can convey what you like to do for fun. For example, “On a typical Friday I like to take my date out to see a live music performance and then get pizza or burger together.” Or, “I’m driving out of town to spend the weekend with my friends where we’ll go to a game or the beach.” Even if you don’t actually do those things (because you are single) put what you would love to do. Don’t say boring things like “watch TV,” or “browsing online profiles.”

You should message me if

Use this space to say more about yourself and the type of relationship you are looking for, for example, “You should message me if you are interested in a gentleman who enjoys stimulating conversations and cultural activities,” or “You should message me if you are interested in having a fun time but not necessarily settling down right away.” Avoid specifics of the type of person that you are looking for, such as “tall, blonde, caring, funny, smart, adventurous, etc.” As I said earlier, too many requirements make you seem arrogant and judgmental, but if you have a unique situation where there are deal breakers, then mention those.

OkCupid Profile Examples For Men

OkCupid is one of the most popular dating websites around. It’s also got a good success rate – each week I seem to be reading stories of men and women all over the world who have found love on there. (Read our expert's OkCupid Review)

OkCupid is for people who are looking for genuine connections, whether that be new friends, dates or serious romantic partners. It’s possible to meet your next BFF on there and even your soulmate.

Exciting, huh?

To really improve your chances of meeting exactly the kind of person you’re looking for, it helps if you’ve optimised your profile so that it stands out by being undeniably and brilliantly you. A good profile should be honest and well-written but it also needs a bit of a polish.

And I get it – writing a dating profile is hard, let alone an OkCupid profile, which are much lengthier and in-depth than those on Tinder or Bumble. But it’s totally cool because I’m here to help. In this article, I’ll be taking a look at some of the best OkCupid profiles and I’ll show you why they work and what you can do to boost yours.

OkCupid Male Dating Profile Example #1

My Self-Summary

“Tom. 27. Manchester

Full time musician.

Masters graduate from Salford Uni.

Have a two year old Alaskan Malamute.

(Yes, I’m shameless using a photo of him.)

Living on a strict diet of coffee and pizza.

I don’t really have any idea what I’m doing

But let’s go for a drink or two and hang out?”

My Self-Summary

“Try not to take life too seriously. I like to experience as much of other cultures and societies as possible. I’m very open minded and tend to try most things at least once … not always the best mantra in my experience, but always leads to a story or two.

I’m equally at home on the sofa or in bed as I am at a gig or a rave. Got an amazing group of empathetic and supportive friends who mean the world to me so I’d like to meet someone outgoing and positive who isn’t afraid to mingle with everyone.

Historically long distance relationships haven’t worked that well for me, but that’s not to say I’m against the idea of travelling a reasonable distance to first get to know someone if we seem like a good match.”

My Self-Summary

“I am very happily taken, and I’m only on here to make new friends. Also, a lot of my answered questions are no longer accurate. ALSO, Chris Martin saying “Oh no, what’s this?” In the hit song “Trouble” by Coldplay, instead he says “OwO, what’s this?”

Game boy (PC, but I do have most consoles). Filled with ideas. Always working on a bunch of projects (and never finishing any of them, ha). I want to be something better than what I am now. I hope I will be.

I’d love to meet more like-minded people to talk or play video games with! Feel free to message me about literally anything though, I find even the weird messages to be entertaining.”

Inside Scoop: Check 20 Dating Profile Examples

Tip 1: Cover the key bases in your self-summary

This isn’t Tinder where you can get away with 2-3 killer lines that sum you up with humour and emojis. On OkCupid, people put real effort into their bios and they expect that from you.

Generally, people on OkCupid aren’t time wasters. They want something – be it friendship or a relationship – and they’re going to spend a decent amount of time weeding out the ones who seem right for them from the ones who don’t.

So it’s a good idea to do what these guys have done. Tom’s bio is especially on-point. He lists all the essentials – his age, height, his job, his pets (he knows full well that girls love dogs), and he does it in a compelling way that’s sprinkled with humility, self-deprecation and humour.

He also outlines that he’s looking for.

The third guy has got it nailed, too. He tells us what he’s all about and what he’s looking for in 3 brief but informative and interesting paragraphs. He’s also included a pic of him with his cat, which is a surefire winner with the ladies (except those who hate cats!).

When crafting your self-summary, tell people the things that are most important to you and them. Tom’s career is important to him, so he lists it. But he also knows that things like height is important to women, so he lists that, too. Be honest, be real and be open. Tell a story, act as though you’re sitting down for a coffee with someone there and then. Go into detail and be revealing.

Then, end with a line that tells people what you’re looking for.

What I’m doing with my life

“Former journalist, working on becoming a language teacher. French assistant this year.”

The most exciting place I’ve ever been

“Japan or Tanzania. Hard to pick.”

I like to take pictures of

“My friends during social gatherings, they generally come out pretty hilarious.”

Tip 2: Be confident, ambitious, fun and adventurous

What do women want?

Well, we know they want security from a man. They also definitely want confidence, ambition, drive and a sense of adventure.

This is why it’s really important that you nail these aspects of your personality in your profile.

The great thing about OkCupid is that it gives you a series of prompts like the ones in the above images. It’s your job to maximise this opportunity by presenting the best version of yourself.

In one of the examples above, we have a guy who is working on becoming a language teacher. He’s clearly got both brains and ambition. And he speaks French. Oh-la-la. This is the type of thing you need to flaunt because it grabs attention.

Then we’ve got a dude who finds it hard to pick between Japan and Tanzania for the most exciting place he’s ever been to. He gets around – maybe someone wants to join him for some adventures? Either way, he’s got lots of stories to tell.

Then we’ve got the life and soul of the party – the cheeky Chappy who loves to take hilarious pics of his mates during social gatherings.

If you can flaunt your confidence, ambition, sense of adventure and fun-loving nature in your profile, you’re onto a winner with the girls on OkCupid.

When do you cook?

“Usually only for company. I like to entertain and have my friends eat and drink well.

If it’s just me, I’m pretty unmotivated to cook something; cereal or a pb and j Sammy will do just fine.”

My go-to dance

“Have you ever seen Elaine dance?”

Six things I could never do without

“My guitar

Rainy days

Sushi

The ocean

The moon

The stars”

Tip 3: Showcase your interests

It is, of course, really important that you showcase your interests but you don’t need to be boring with how you do it. In our first example above, the guy is expanding on his social life, showing us that he’s a bit of an entertainer. He’s using a very simple prompt about cooking to give women a broader insight into who he’s all about.

He’s not just a cook – he’s a people person. In this way, he’s used the prompt as a pretext for showing us more about him. This is what you need to do, too.

The second example, on the other hand, includes a reference to the US sitcom Seinfeld. Naturally, if you’ve never seen Seinfeld, you won’t get that. But those who will? Well, they’re the type of women who this man is looking for.

What I really love about this subtle reference, by the way, is that the guy isn’t being boring by mundanely listing his favourite dance. Instead, he’s giving us an interesting answer by telling us he doesn’t dance but he does watch Seinfeld. I love that and you should use that sort of thing in your profile. It’s witty, it gets attention.

Meanwhile, the ‘Six things I could never do without’ prompt is your friend and you should use it. This is your chance to list the things that really matter to you and which can help to attract someone who shares your interests, or whose interest is at least piqued by your interests.

As we can see from the guy above, he’s done a great job of listing some of his hobbies, but he’s also show what he really values – he values the small but beautiful things in life. In other words, nature and – I’m guessing – sharing a kiss under the stars with his next partner. It’s this kind of thing that works really well on OkCupid where people care about feelings and what’s inside a person.

Key Takeaways

Use the tips and examples in this article to improve your own OkCupid profile so that you get better matches. Remember to summarise yourself in a way that makes you presentable and interesting to the right people, but don’t forget to be unashamedly you. However, this is online dating, so you are allowed to give yourself a bit of a shine, too.

Then, flaunt your personality in a fun and engaging way without coming across as too arrogant of conceited. Be confident but also be humble and playful.

Guy 3: I love people, cultures, good mens okcupid dating profiles, traveling, and trying new things. I am very smart, confident, happy with good mens okcupid dating profiles life, and always up for good mens okcupid dating profiles adventure. I’ve had some amazing opportunities that have helped me be very successful and I’m excited for the possibilities of the future. I am honest and straightforward, but I’m not an open book. I’d be happy to good mens okcupid dating profiles you more, send me a message and we’ll take it from there.

Guy number 1 starts out by saying he doesn’t enjoy talking about himself, which immediately makes me think he would be uncomfortable on a first date. His interests, good mens okcupid dating profiles, read, good mens okcupid dating profiles, watch movies and travel,” are the same as 99% of guys on okc.

Here are some tips from a good mens okcupid dating profiles online dater about what stands out and what stinks.

As soon as you start telling a story, everyone wants to know what happens next, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

At the time I had always wanted to pursue a career in photography, good mens okcupid dating profiles, so I seized on this opportunity to have a new career. Now I love what I do for a living.

As a single person who has lived in this city good mens okcupid dating profiles a short time, I love the opportunity to meet cool people from many walks of life.

If these questions good mens okcupid dating profiles like college admission personal statements, it’s because online dating is a lot like college admissions. The admissions officer has to make a decision as to whether or not you are a good match for their institution based on what you say about yourself, good mens okcupid dating profiles. They want to know your background, your motivations, and your personality. These things are conveyed through stories that show your values, struggles, passions, good mens okcupid dating profiles, and triumphs.

Tell stories that appeal to type of person you want to attract: You are a multi-faceted person and no single story can convey everything about you, good mens okcupid dating profiles. Therefore, the stories you choose to tell should reflect what you want others to know about you and appeal to the kind of person you want to attract and the relationship you want to have with them. For example, good mens okcupid dating profiles, if you are looking for a marriage partner and eventually have children, talking about parties and working at Starbucks is not a good idea, instead, talk about the master’s degree you are earning and your love of children, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

Instead of saying you like to travel, talk about a particularly meaningful trip that you have taken, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

Because I am vittubuddie dating site only child (a result of the one child policy in China), good mens okcupid dating profiles, people sometimes ask me if I was lonely growing up. Truthfully I didn’t know what loneliness was until I moved to the United States. In China, my parents and I lived in an extended family household with my maternal grandmother, eight uncles and aunts, and five cousins (each of whom were only children). The “house” was a square shaped compound with units for each family on three sides, good mens okcupid dating profiles, a courtyard in the middle, and a small garden in the front.

Uniqueness: What makes you different from others is what makes you memorable, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

We’ve all heard of smile, good mens okcupid dating profiles, make dating site for anime fans contact, good mens okcupid dating profiles, and shake hands; what is the virtual equivalent of those things in a profile?

Adjectives: This is done all the time but please don’t start your profile with a list of adjectives describing yourself such as “I’m friendly, hard working, easy-going, ambitious, smart, honest, funny, good mens okcupid dating profiles, etc.” Those words can be used to describe almost anybody and is totally overused. Instead, tell a story that shows a suite of characteristics that you want to highlight. In fact go through your current profile and nix any adjectives that pop up. See if you can say the same thing using specifics that show rather than tell.

List of interests: Also do not say anywhere in your profile “I like to travel, workout, read, be outdoors, and hang out with my friends.” First of all, almost every guy says that they like to travel, workout, good mens okcupid dating profiles, read, be outdoors, and hang out with friends. Do you have some interest that is a little different from the norm? Maybe you enjoy good mens okcupid dating profiles or kungfu, birdwatching or creating memes. Specificity also helps here. Instead of, “I like to indian dating app in us say instead, “The most amazing place I’ve ever been to is Iceland.” Instead of “I like hiking,” say “I love backpacking in the canyonlands of Utah.” Instead of “I like hanging out with my friends,” say, “Whenever I get together with my guy friends we watch basketball and order nachos and buffalo wings.” Instead of “I like to read,” say, “I’m currently reading a book on how to be successful at online dating.”

Negative characteristics: Keep your profile positive and upbeat. Avoid complaining about your ex, complaining about your work, or complaining about good mens okcupid dating profiles dating.

What you are looking for: Don’t talk about what you are looking for in a potential match, good mens okcupid dating profiles, unless it’s a unique deal breaker.

On OK Good mens okcupid dating profiles, the dating profile allows you to fill out answers to the following questions. Other sites have other formats, but the responses can be used there as well.

What I’m doing with my life

If you didn’t use a story about your career in your self-summary, good mens okcupid dating profiles, you can do that here. Be positive and specific. Instead of saying you are a teacher, say “I teach fourth grade English and Social Studies at a suburban private school.” If you love your job, good mens okcupid dating profiles, say why.

  • Recycling bin (I can’t stand it when I want to recycle something and there is young gay dating apps bin nearby)
  • Tylenol (I get headaches a lot)
  • Library (I go at least once a month, check good mens okcupid dating profiles a bunch of books, read one and return the rest)

Don’t put things that everybody can’t live without, such as air, water, food, good mens okcupid dating profiles, family, friends, sex.

I spend a good mens okcupid dating profiles of time thinking about

Here you can put something serious, like “I think a lot about global warming and whether the human species will survive the changes to our planet” or something silly, like “when I see strangers on the train or in the city, I sometimes wonder when was the last time they had an orgasm.” Make it real and personal.

On a typical Friday night I am

Here is where you can convey what you like to do for fun. For example, “On a typical Friday I like to take my date out to see a live music performance and then get pizza or burger together.” Or, “I’m driving out of town to spend the weekend with my friends good mens okcupid dating profiles we’ll go to a game or the beach.” Even if you don’t actually do those things (because you are single) put what you would love to do.

Instead, he illustrates his character by penning a little scenario in which he’s the hero that saves the spider instead of the villain good mens okcupid dating profiles kills it with a flip-flop.

Dating girl usa first two nouns describing himself are underwhelming, but just when you think this profile won’t be worth reading you see the words, “opium smoker.” The profile works because it’s got a balance of surprise and banality.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #10: Acknowledges The Game

This profile would’ve been kind of lame had that first line not been included. This elevator pitch makes the reader stick around. She can spare less than 10 seconds to read a profile. A profile shouldn’t be an essay. A bio must be nothing more good mens okcupid dating profiles a joking boast or two and an illustration of who you are.

#11: Meh

dating profiles for menI’ll give this guy credit, he gives me something to latch onto. If I’m anyone of the things he listed I may be interested and want to learn more. However, this will likely only be the case if he attached his IG. If you’re a writer, poet, and artist, why is it so hard for good mens okcupid dating profiles to write a compelling profile? Would Henry Miller ever write a profile like this?

#12: Highlight Your Advantages

dating app profiles for guysLet’s say you’re a 5’6 entrepreneur. One of those facts doesn’t deserve highlighting. I’m not suggesting you lie, but until you’re viewed as more than a virtual card that she can swipe into the abyss, only make known what’s great about you. Women love ambitious entrepreneurs. #14: Unabashed Personality

This guy isn’t afraid to show his true colors, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

It’s jarring, good mens okcupid dating profiles. That’s not how you get my number.

#16: The Tinder X-mas Tree

This is what I like to call a x-mas tree. It’s ornamented with tons of sparkling trinkets that are meant to catch your attention. Good mens okcupid dating profiles you don’t like Aretha Franklin, maybe you’ll be attracted to Smashing Pumpkins or Napoleon Dynamite.

Funny Dating Profiles Example #21: Don’t Be Cliche

witty dating profilesEveryone’s a foodie nowadays. It seems like there are now more shows on Netflix about foods than sitcoms -how did that happen? At any rate, food jokes (and food confessions) are not en vogue.

Best Online Dating App Profile Photos for Guys: Picture Tips

Bumble Photo Tips, Hinge Profile Photo Tips

Avoid duplicate outfits, backgrounds, expressions, good mens okcupid dating profiles. Reduce inconsistent looks (grooming patterns, hair colors, hairstyles, good mens okcupid dating profiles, weights and appearances).

Too often, good mens okcupid dating profiles, men don’t like their smiles, or they think their smiles make them look less masculine (this could not be further from the truth). One way good mens okcupid dating profiles have tried to look more interesting or masculine is looking away from the camera.

If it works for someone you know, it’s because they don’t know how to smile, or they are more attractive to begin good mens okcupid dating profiles want to see your personality, candidness, vulnerability, confidence etc. Looking away doesn’t allow people to see this.

Additional Reading: Looking Away In Photos

Avoid Trying Too Hard, Intense In Your Dating Photos

Many guys try too hard to illustrate strength, accomplishments or wealth. Don’t do this. Photos like this suggest insecurity, one-dimensional lifestyles and inability to be bold, good mens okcupid dating profiles, unique and comfortable in your own skin. Spend 5 minutes on any dating app and you will find photos posing next to vehicles, photos with guns, photos at the gym, photos flexing, photos with luxury accessories, photos from expensive restaurants, good mens okcupid dating profiles, lounges, bars, good mens okcupid dating profiles, hotels.

Spend 5 minutes and you will find no shortage of bed selfies, good mens okcupid dating profiles, gym selfies, apartment hallway selfies, bathroom selfies, car selfies etc. I understand that it’s hard to get good photos of yourself but littering good mens okcupid dating profiles profile with selfies is not only cliche but suggests lack of social circles or close relationships or fear of asking photos to take photos.

Sole inserts, misleading photo angles, good mens okcupid dating profiles, old photos (more than 3 years old or those that don’t reflect how you look today), hat-fishing (using hats in all your profiles to hide baldness), photoshopping images, dog-fishing (posing with dogs that are not yours) are all techniques guys use to gain an edge.

Get help, good mens okcupid dating profiles. 27 Dating Profile Examples For Men: Make the Perfect Profile to Attract Women

Dating doesn’t have to be like a scene from Armageddon (the asteroid scenes, not the ones with Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck.) That’s exactly why we’ve compiled a list of dating profile examples for men, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

However, so do 90% of other men who are dating, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

You want your strange dating sites profile to stick out; be the Reese’s Puffs of the dating world and make people stop and say, “Wow, what a unique and delicious looking cereal!

    2. Be Detailed and Specific

gay younger for older dating site src="https://www.loveflutter.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/2.-Ok-cupid-Be-specific-2.jpg" alt="" width="369" height="800">

A lot.)

For everything you think you want to write in a dating profile, ask yourself questions about it until you’ve got it down to something detailed and specific, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

You can see this good mens okcupid dating profiles the pictured dating profile examples for men.

    3. But, Don’t Be Too Detailed

While it’s important to write dating profiles that show who you are and what you’re about, there is nothing wrong with a little mystery in your profile either, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

4, good mens okcupid dating profiles. Use Spell Free dating sites and Proper Grammar

Just like a job application or resume, good mens okcupid dating profiles, bad spelling is one of the first things people will use to weed out a good dating profile from a bad one; don’t let your dating profile be passed over for something so tiny and easily fixed, this is one of the most important tips that will help you stand outgood mens okcupid dating profiles.

If you do have a fit body, women will be able to tell, good mens okcupid dating profiles. It’s easy to make this obvious by talking about your love of working out, sports, good mens okcupid dating profiles, and going to the gym (you can even make sure you’ve got a giant can of protein powder in the background of one of your photos if it’s really that important to you.) You can show off your body and personality at the same time; share pictures of yourself good mens okcupid dating profiles sports, or hiking with your friends.

Pictures in your dating profile should show your personality, and they should be clear. Some examples: A selfie, a picture of you participating in hobbies, you with a group of friends. If you love to go out dancing and drinking at clubs, show that. If you prefer to stay in reading or watching t.v. at night, you can show that in your photos as well, good mens okcupid dating profiles. Pictured are some online dating profile examples to help you out with more tips.

    6. Avoid Looking Desperate

In the past, having an online dating profile would scams of getting phone number from dating site like bit of a joke in the dating world, or at the very least, for desperate losers who clearly had something wrong with them because they couldn’t get a date. However, good mens okcupid dating profiles, 20 dating 34 year old days, everyone is on dating apps and it’s considered one of the most common black white dating to meet someone. Gone are the days of normal dating, like approaching someone in a natural way. Having a dating profile is now seen as the standard for almost everyone.

Unfortunately, many men who are interested in dating seem to have retained that air of desperation, and they show it in free dating apps for android phones dating profile. What does this look like? Explaining in every detail how much you’ve been hurt in the past, and claiming that every woman is just a cold, callous heartbreaker. Claiming in your dating profile that you just don’t understand why nobody likes you is a dating faux pas, good mens okcupid dating profiles. Even worse in the dating world would be saying your mom is always telling you what a swell guy you are, good mens okcupid dating profiles, and you can’t figure out why women don’t see that.

When two people come together, you should each be whole people who compliment one another, good mens okcupid dating profiles two halves that would fall apart if you stopped dating.

One of the best tips good mens okcupid dating profiles your dating profile: Show that you have your own life going, complete with hobbies, friends, a career, and passions, good mens okcupid dating profiles.

Let’s say you’re in the popular pool of men, those who get 2 matches on Tinder, a match on OkCupid, good mens okcupid dating profiles, and 3 messages on Bumble in a day. How can you establish a connection or plan a date with any of these women? Your little black book of dates will suddenly become a full-time job (and you’ll end up spending a johnny taylor dating site lot of money rather than earning it.)

Not only that, but on dating apps like Bumble or Tinder, where women can scroll through a hundred profiles a minute, it’s highly likely that a copy and pasted joke will show up multiple times, eliciting an eye-rolland not a funny one.

Additional Reading: Looking Away In Photos

Avoid Trying Too Hard, Intense In Your Dating Photos

Many guys try too hard to illustrate strength, accomplishments or wealth. Don’t do this.

This is easier said than done but that’s why practice is needed. I offer Zoom classes on these items to help construct great dating profile photos. Contact me today.
