Raya, is a private, membership-based dating app said to be used by high-profile people and celebrities.

The app made headlines this week when a TikTok user went viral after sharing a video Ben Affleck apparently sent her after they matched on a dating app.

To join Raya, users must be referred by an existing member. Their application is then voted on by a membership committee and it is famously difficult to be accepted.

"Our focus at Raya is to provide members with access to exciting people and opportunities around the world. We are a private community where people come to connect for dating, networking, and friendship," the app's description reads on the Apple App Store.

A quasi-minimalist Raya website exists for non-users to browse. "We believe in individuality, creativity and sharing stories," it reads.

Upon applying to join, prospective members are asked to share who they would like to invite to an intimate dinner party and why. They are also asked information about their work and to state what common bond they share with other users—like being in the entertainment industry for example.

Nivine Jay, an actress and model, shared the clip of a man, who looks and sounds like Affleck, to TikTok on Sunday before it made its way to Twitter where it has exploded.

"Thinking of the time I matched with Ben Affleck on Raya and thought it was fake so I unmatched him and he sent me a video on Instagram," she wrote over the clip.

The video, the authenticity of which has not been independently verified by Newsweek, then purports to show the year-old Batman actor asking Jay: "Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It's me."

Affleck mentioned using Raya in , when he posted to Instagram "HA, you got me. I'm dating," before opening up about a cause he cared about.

Some notable celebrities who reportedly use or who have used Raya include Cara Delevingne, Ruby Rose, Sharon Stone, Moby, John Cusack, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Teri Hatcher, Elijah Wood and Zach Braff.

This list was compiled in by Nylon magazine, which had a peek inside the app.

Apart from movie stars and supermodels, other people who are said to use Raya include fashion designers, YouTubers, DJs, celebrity chefs and professional athletes.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka revealed she was a big fan of Raya, telling Stylist in "Raya for life. Love it. God bless Raya."

Drew Barrymore once compared Raya to "looking through an Us Weekly" during a September appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

"I did terribly too. I got stood up, and I didn't match with anyone. And my friends gave me this sort of bloated sense of false confidence. They were like, 'You should try it. You will do great.' It was a car wreck," she shared.

I’m not sure how seriously Tinder would take this issue, but it is possible they wouldn’t look on it kindly. Without going into too many details, it involves manipulating your photo/s to look as if Tinder itself has recommended you to their users. There is enough information here to show you how to do this as well as an example photo to show you how it looks.

The suggestion here is to call girls after you get their number as it'll give you a better chance of meeting them. This is something you might want to experiment with, but personally I prefer to text them instead. Be careful about texting too often though before you've actually met them. Based on my own experience, I would suggest not doing this. Better to let her think you're a busy guy with a life than show her you're so available that you can spend all day texting with a girl you've never even met. Having also been on the other side of things, I can tell you I find it annoying when I give a girl my number and she continually texts me. Save some conversation for when you meet in person.

As for going on the date, there is a 5-step plan of what to do when you meet up with her, with the date taking roughly around 90 minutes. It's more of a broad strokes view of what to do, but it's decent enough advice and you may want to try it out. It's not the only kind of way to structure a date, and if you're a beginner you may have to try out a few different ideas until you find what works best for you.

There's also a section on what to do if your goal is a one night stand instead. I think this section could have been explained in more detail and made clearer. Like most of the book, it feels rushed and is confusing in places. For instance, the example of saying to a girl "If we have fun, let's go watch a DVD" doesn't even make sense.

It's possible also that Matt's relative lack of experience hampers his ability to go into intricate detail on what to do. When you read other material by dating coaches who have many years of experience, they have a deeper understanding of the pschology behind all the tactics and can generally provide clearer instructions of what to do along each step of the way.

There are good and bad examples in here, and if you're a beginner you might not be able to figure out which is which. If you have more experience with dating skills you should be able to see why some of the things he says are quite weak.

For example, in the first transcript there is a lot of approval-seeking and low value comments on his part. There is a part where he asks her how he is doing and says he deserves a date. In his notes to the reader, he says this is a joke, but it's not clear in the exchange. Quite rightly, the girl calls him out on this and says he looks desperate.

There are other poor examples, like qualifying himself and telling a girl that he is a bad boy. It's not clear if this is meant to be a joke, but it just comes off as lame and it's not the best resource to learn from.

One of the issues could be that it sounds like Matt is quite young, as he mentions one of the girls he meets is 18 and from the examples some of the other girls are clearly quite young. Some of the message exchanges here are full of lots of errors and are typical of what you'd expect of teenagers and some of the early 20's crowd. If you're older (30+) you might find some of it a bit hard to relate to.

On the other hand, the messages are generally a good example of how to tease girls and keep it light and playful. There's also some good demonstrations of persistence, as at times he asks for the number or date only to be denied, but keeps barreling through until he gets a positive response.

‘So the principle of the app was always conservative principles,’ she tells Daily Mail TV, sitting in a wood-decorated Boise restaurant that’s been a favorite haunt of locals for nearly two decades. ‘What was just interesting, after Donald Trump got elected, was the toxic environment that we were in.’

It’s Melania’s style and elegance that she believes should feature more in modern dating – women making an effort, men making the pursuit and traditional gender roles reinforced.

‘There’s two genders on Righter, and I’m not anti-gay, not at all,’ she adds, though there’s currently no matching option for gay conservative dating on the new app, and no immediate plans to create one. She points out that one launch for Righter was hosted in New York by a married lesbian couple – with a daughter.

She got the idea for Righter after meeting a young model at a conservative fundraiser in New York who actually reminded her of Melania, she says.

‘I walked in, and I am very attracted to beautiful women – who you don’t see a lot of them,’ she says. ‘There’s not a lot of striking, beautiful women, especially nowadays – and when I say that, I mean women that look like Melania.

She continues: ‘She was in this white outfit that would take your breath away – and I thought, “She’s got to be a model.”’

That altruistic dating philosophy is something she wants to bring to Righter, implementing a user rating feature that will allow men and women to report on their experiences.

‘Men change, and they function differently when they hit certain ages,’ says Christy. ‘It doesn’t necessarily mean performance; it’s a confidence level. She adds of Righter: ‘It’s been going beautifully; we’ve actually had people that are matching very well, and it hasn’t been [just] sex.

‘Bottom line: Typically conservative men and women, that’s just not the behaviour. They actually get to know each other and go on dates. Here’s the situation: If they do go on a date, and they do want to engage in intimacy, that’s between them. But that is just not how Conservatives behave.

‘Like Clayton said, beautifully, we weren’t raised that way.’
